How did the trend of sunbathing begin?

In the past, having white skin was a symbol of distinction and wealth among the upper classes and aristocrats, since they sheltered from the sun under umbrellas and hats. Instead, the working class had tanned skin from working in the sun for long hours.

It was at the beginning of the 20th century when it began to be discovered that the sun had many health benefits and "sun baths" began to be prescribed to cure certain diseases related to both the mental aspect and the physical state.

In the 1920s, Coco Chanel and Josephine Baker were pioneers of tanned skin and set a milestone in this emerging fashion. This trend spread throughout Europe and marked a before and after in terms of this standard of beauty.

How to get a tan effect all year round

While it is true that the best-known way to get a tan is sunbathing on a beach or in a pool, even on the street, it can be said that it is not the only way to show off this effect that attracts the attention of so many.

Today there are different techniques to obtain the effect of brown skin without having to spend hours exposing ourselves to the sun.

‘SUN KISSED EFFECT’

It is a makeup technique that combines bronzing powder with highlighter and that, with a few simple steps, makes our faces look as if we had just sunbathed on the beach.

On the one hand, bronzing powders are not applied to the entire cheekbone or the entire face, but rather to certain strategic points on the face where the sun tends to hit the most: the upper areas of the face. These are the parts that you should highlight with the bronzer:

  • The bridge of the nose: it is an area where we tend to tan more.
  • The high part of the cheekbones: almost touching the dark circle. In your imagination it is like drawing a horizontal line between the top of each cheekbone and the bone of the nose.

  • The upper part of the forehead: we create a mask effect.

ADD POINTS OF LIGHT

With a highlighter, achieve a natural glow by applying it to the cheeks, brow bone, bridge of the nose and cupid's bow. This will give us more contrast between the dark and light areas and will bring more light to the face.

2. We will continue with the concealer to hide any imperfections that our skin may have.

3. We will continue with the Beige Rose compact powders + the Coral compact blush to achieve the tanned effect in the points where the sun usually hits us: bridge of the nose, upper part of the cheekbones and upper part of the forehead.
